The cathedral’s seniors are a diverse, stimulating community of seasoned people who are aging with grace. We gather to learn, grow, stay healthy and enjoy each other’s company – and everyone is welcome at our gatherings.
Once or twice a year, we enjoy a retreat in beautiful Healdsburg. In addition to beautiful scenery, our group will enjoy a program that includes arts and crafts, social hour, Holy Eucharist, Compline, meditation, music, walks on the labyrinth and pastoral appointments.
All are welcome; RSVP is required. Transportation to and from the cathedral is included in the attendance costs. Payment plans, in addition, limited scholarships, are available.
Community Days occur on the fourth Thursday of each month (unless affected by a holiday) from 10 am – 2 pm. Enjoy a continental breakfast from 10 to 10:30 am, followed by Bible study and a topical presentation. At 12:10 pm, we gather for Holy Eucharist in the Chapel of Grace and then return to the Dining Room for a catered luncheon. We conclude our day with the sharing of senior grocery care bags.
Most senior events take place in the Chapter House Dining Room. Trained medical staff are available at these events to assist with basic health assessment and referrals.
Seniors with Grace Community Day and Carillon Documentary
Thursday, January 24 from 10 am to 2 pm
Come for our monthly community day and see a special documentary on our carillon.
What is the carillon and why do we have one at Grace Cathedral? Who plays it and what do they play?
Find out all about the beautiful bells that ring throughout the cathedral and resound all over the neighborhood every hour of the day. The carillonneurs of Grace Cathedral talk about their musical ministry— explaining what they do, how they do it and why, in this short documentary video by John and Alexandra Dickerman.
The Rev. Canon Nina Pickerrell is honored to support the senior program. She would love to hear from you with any questions, suggestions or to reserve a spot on the next retreat. Please find her contact information below.
