Announcing Our New Executive Pastor

Blog|The Very Rev. Dr. Malcolm Clemens Young

We have wonderful news. After a thorough international search process, we have called the Rev. Dr. Ellen Clark-King to join Grace Cathedral as our Executive Pastor.

Our search committee, composed of congregants and staff, has been working on this project since May and considered many excellent candidates.

The Rev. Dr. Clark-King has faithfully served since 2005 at Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver, Canada, where she is the Cathedral Vicar.

Ellen brings a wealth of knowledge, experience in ministry and seasoned leadership to Grace Cathedral. She was one of the first women ordained as a priest in 1994 in the United Kingdom. She holds a PhD in Theology and Spirituality from Lancaster University (UK) and a MA in Christian Spirituality from Heythrop College, London. Her career of service to the wider church has been underpinned by her deep commitment to helping people discover their true identity as beloved children of God.

As Executive Pastor and Canon for Social Justice, Ellen’s chapter-level position will oversee pastoral care, formation, social justice, music, liturgy and evangelism.

Ellen will relocate to San Francisco and begin her role here on December 11. She is married to the Rev. Jeremy Clark-King, the rector of St. Mary’s Kerrisdale in Vancouver.

We are very excited to have this capable and accomplished professional as a member of our pastoral leadership team.
