Cathedral History
Grace Cathedral began in 1849 Gold Rush San Francisco and has been an integral part of the life of the city since that time.

Stained Glass Windows
Our stained glass has 68 named windows/window groups and covers 7,290 square feet.

Gates of Paradise
The main doors of Grace Cathedral are replicas of the famous doors by the Florentine Renaissance master Lorenzo Ghiberti (1378-1455). 

Cathedral Labyrinths
Grace Cathedrals two labyrinths, one inside and one outside, have been present here since the 1990s and are used daily.

Furnishings and Treasures
Altarpieces, sculptures, paintings, murals, icons, tapestries, and needlepoint are among our noteworthy sacred furnishings.

Cathedral Organs and Bells
The cathedral has three wonderful organs including the majestic 7,466 pipe Æolian-Skinner and a 44 bell carillon.

Cathedral Choir and Concerts
Grace Cathedral's Choir of Men and Boys celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2013.  We have been honored to host a large number of concerts featuring our own choir and musicians along with a host of other world-class performers.

People and Initiatives
In addition to being the sacred venue for many national, state and civic services, Grace Cathedral has hosted a variety of prominent speakers and developed a number of innovative initiatives.

Grace Cathedral has entered popular culture as a setting in novels and feature motion pictures.

Cathedral Close and Nob Hill
The close, or precincts, of Grace Cathedral occupy a city block on the south shoulder of Nob Hill.
