Seniors with Grace

The cathedral’s seniors are a diverse, stimulating community of seasoned people who are aging with grace. We gather to learn, grow, stay healthy and enjoy each other’s company — and everyone is welcome at our gatherings.

We have two regular meetings every month, with one focusing on health and the other featuring a thought-provoking presentation.  We also do much-needed volunteer work to help San Franciscans in need at some of these meetings and through other volunteer opportunities.

Once or twice a year, we enjoy a retreat in beautiful Healdsburg. Our next Senior Retreat will be in March of 2016. In addition to the beautiful scenery, our seniors enjoy a program that includes, prayer, arts and crafts, social hour, Holy Eucharist, Compline, meditation, music, walks on the labyrinth and pastoral appointments.

Community Days

Community Days occur on the fourth Thursday of each month from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Enjoy a hot, cooked breakfast at 9:30 a.m., followed by Bible study and then a topical presentation. At 12:10 p.m., we gather for Holy Eucharist in the Chapel of Grace and then return to the Dining Room for a catered luncheon.

Most senior events take place in the Chapter House Dining Room. Trained medical staff are available at these events to assist with basic health assessment and referrals.

Senior Community Day on Thursday, July 28 will include a performance by organist Lawrence Thain at 11 a.m. in the Quire.

The Rev. Nina Pickerrell is honored to support the senior program. She would love to hear from you with any questions, suggestions or to reserve a spot on the next retreat. Please find her contact information below.
