About the Program:

The twenty-sixth Presiding Bishop -- the first woman elected primate in the Anglican Communion -- and the Bishop of California in conversation.

The Most Rev. Jefferts Schori will also preach at the 11:00 am service.

Katharine Jefferts Schori is the first woman to hold the top post in the church's nearly 400-year history. She previously served as the ninth Bishop of Nevada, and before her ordination was an oceanographer with the National Marine Fisheries Service in Seattle. She is also a pilot with more than 500 flight-hours logged. She is married to Richard Miles Schori, a retired theoretical mathematician. They have one child, Katharine Johanna, a second lieutenant and pilot in the U.S. Air Force.

Marc Handley Andrus is the eighth bishop of California. He served previously as bishop suffragan in Alabama. Prior to ordination, he worked as a regional planner on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Andrus is married to Sheila, a researcher and educator. They are the parents of two daughters, Pilar and Chloe, who are both college students.
