About the Program:
Joanne Hayes-White makes it her duty to make San Francisco the safest city in America. Since being appointed as Fire Chief in January of 2004, it’s believed San Francisco is the largest urban fire department in the world with a female chief. Only until 1988 were women even allowed to join the fire department. What are the significant challenges she faces working in a male-dominated profession? And how is the position of fire chief different in a post 9/11 world?
