Lovins and Hunter Lovins, renowned environmentalists and directors
of the Rocky Mountain Institute, discuss practical ecology with
Alan Jones. "Capitalism" as we know it is in fact an aberration
of the Industrial Revolution, and what is now most valuable is
what the economy--in other words, we--value least. Big business
is not entirely to blame: it is the consumers who support bad
business practices. Big business is actually the only entity with
the resources and the organization to redirect today's unfriendly
trends. The Lovinses discuss their work on energy efficiency,
which culminated in their famous "hypercar," an unusually efficient
and cheap motor vehicle.
