St. Luke Window: Left Lancet, medallion A

The annunciation to the Virgin Mary by the angel Gabriel (S. Luke I.28: "Hail ... the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women"). Note the colored text. Mary kneels, astonished and puzzled at the words, below the descending dove of the Spirit. The white roses and pot symbolize Mary as pure virgin and future mother of Christ, with the pot inscribed AM — Ave Maria (Latin: Hail Mary).
