The Chapel of the Nativity The Adoration mural (partly visible) above the altar is by John De Rosen. The mural represents the Epiphany, the revelation of the Christ Child to the gentiles, leading to adoration and prayer. The face of the chapel Altar shows emblems of Christ (left to right) - the cross and triangle of the sacrificed Son, the Lamb of God with banner of the crucified and risen Savior, and the three circles of the eternal Trinity. To the right, the French Gobelin tapestries (ca. 1680) on the side walls depict child gardeners in a royal garden setting, part of a series devoted to the four seasons. The Madonna and Child painting is by Antonio del Ceraiolo (ca. 1520-1538), a student of the Renaissance master Lorenzo di Credi. (The crucifix is replaced by an aumbry by Davis D’Ambly (2008).) |
