Grace Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of the Diocese of California, a house of prayer for all people, and, in many ways, the cathedral for the city of San Francisco. At the heart of Grace Cathedral is the resident congregation that strives to follow the way and life of Jesus.
We are an Easter people: we are people who believe in resurrection -- that Death and the deaths we die daily are less real than the power of the Risen Christ among us to transform our lives.
And so we respond to the gift of life and the possibility of transformation by going deeper in our conversations with God, with one another, and with the city and the world that God so loves.
At Grace Cathedral, we continually emphasize practices -- praying, growing, and serving -- that shape and deepen our lives of faith and help us, too, to rise up, even in times of darkness and despair.
- Praying: our attentiveness to worship and the sacraments; personal, daily prayer and devotion
- Growing: taking responsibility for an examined faith through spiritual and intellectual curiosity
- Serving: our commitment to acts of mercy and generosity; our advocacy for peace, justice, and reconciliation
