As a Cathedral, worship lies at the heart, and as the foundation, of all we do. All worship services are open to the public, and we welcome you to worship in this sacred space at the crossroads of many communities in San Francisco.
A house of prayer for all people, Grace Cathedral offers opportunities to worship with others every day of the week.
Every Sunday, the cathedral offers a diversity of worship styles, formal and informal, spoken word and musical, in which you are invited to enter more deeply into the mystery of the divine, to hear and grapple with God's word, to experience Christ's presence in sacrament, to feel the Spirit's companionship in community, and to go out into the world renewed to live and serve.
As the Cathedral for the Diocese of California, we partner with the Bishop's office and other parishes to serve not only the cathedral congregation, but the whole diocese, the city of San Francisco and the Bay Area. We host a multitude of special services and guest preachers. Seasonal worship services include Advent Procession and Tea; Lion dancers leading the procession for Chinese New Year; the Holy Week liturgies leading to Easter; special diocesan baptisms, confirmations, and ordinations; St. Francis' Day Blessing of the Animals in October; Requiem Mass in November; Christmas Lessons and Carols and Midnight Mass.
Service Times can be found be here.
Listen to audio files of recent sermons along with the most recent full 11 a.m. Eucharist and Thursday Evensong. You may also download the service leaflets for these two services.
Music has been an intrinsic part of our worship here since the founding of Grace Cathedral.
