It is with great pleasure and tremendous enthusiasm that the Rt. Rev. Marc Handley Andrus, Bishop of California, and the Board of Trustees of Grace Cathedral have announced that the Rev. Dr. Malcolm Clemens Young has accepted their nomination and call to become the 9th Dean of Grace Cathedral.
Malcolm is a Harvard-trained theologian who currently serves as the rector of Christ Church, Los Altos, CA. During his time at Christ Church, Malcolm founded the Ventana School, an Episcopal day school for students from pre-school to 5th grade.
Malcolm is married to Heidi Ho, and they have two teenage children, Micah and Melia.
Malcolm is expected to join the Cathedral on August 1, 2015.
In July 2014, the Very Rev. Dr. Jane Shaw, 8th Dean of Grace Cathedral, announced her appointment to become the Dean for Religious Life at Stanford University beginning in autumn 2014, and the Cathedral began a search for the 9th Dean.
The search committee has been chaired by Board of Trustee member David Walker, Board Chair Jane Shaw Carpenter and the Rt. Rev. Marc Handley Andrus, Bishop of California. The search for the 9th Dean concluded with the announcement on May 11, 2015 that the Rev. Dr. Malcolm Clemens Young accepted the nomination and call of Bishop Andrus and the Board of Trustees of Grace Cathedral to become the 9th Dean.

December 5, 2014: The application window to apply for the 9th Dean's position is closed.
November 30, 2014: Join us in the Chapter Room after the 8:30 a.m. service or before the 6 p.m. service at 5 p.m. to learn more about the Dean Search process.
November 3, 2014: After an intensive period of listening and discernment, the 9th Dean's position is now open for application. Applications must be received by December 5, 2014 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. Please find the position posting here.
