About the Recitalist

John Cannon, organist/choirmaster at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Estes Park, CO, studied organ at Colorado State University where he earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees.  From 2003-2007, Cannon was the Assistant University Organist for University of the South in Sewanee, TN, where he played services for the University and accompanied the choir. On November 5, 2010, Cannon premiered an original composition by David Briggs based on the hymn tune Lobe den Herren, o meine Seele at the Cathedral of St. John, Jacksonville, FL.  In 2011, Cannon was a semi-finalist in the Rodgers Organ Competition.
